Information about the project
The Crusellinsilta bridge will be repaired during the summer and autumn of 2024. The renovation will ensure the bridge’s safe use and the area’s attractiveness in the future.
Project summary
The surface structures and deck waterproofing of the Crusellinsilta bridge will be renewed, and a partial renovation of the bridge’s support tower, or pylon, will be carried out. Deficiencies have been detected in the waterproofing, and their repair will prevent possible extensive future repairs of the bridge. The causes of the waterproofing deficiencies will be identified once the surface structures are dismantled.
In addition, cracks in the structures will be injected, and corrosion damage will be repaired to the necessary extent. At the northern and southern ends of the bridge, changes will be made to the surface structures and stormwater drains in the street area.
Schedule and movement in the area
The work will begin in May 2024 and is expected to last until the end of November.
Tram traffic on the Crusellinsilta bridge will be interrupted from 3 June to 1 September and replaced by buses.
Vehicle traffic, walking, and cycling will be possible throughout the project, but due to the work areas, traffic lanes will be reduced, and pedestrians and cyclists can only use one side of the bridge.
The contractor will guide traffic with signs. Traffic arrangements are expected to change two to three times during the project, and these will be communicated separately closer to the change dates.
